Proposed Dispersal Zone Meeting - tonight

Due to an increase in ASB and other criminal behaviour in Victoria Ward, the police are wanting to introduce a dispersal zone which covers a large part of that ward, Chatham ward and a small part of our ward around Mare Street.

This is to help prevent moving the ASB from where the police will be undertaking heightened activity in the weeks ahead.

The proposal is being discussed TONIGHT - please go along and let the police and council know what you think. Alternatively, let us know and we can pass on your thoughts.

The meeting is being held at:

Wednesday 11th May 2011 07:00 pm
Kingshold Community Centre, Ainsworth Road E9

Whilst Dispersal Zones aren't to be entered into lightly and do give the police substantial powers, when they have been introduced in different parts of the borough they have been tremendously successful - both in terms of levels of crime, but have also led to increased levels of public confidence.
